White Stone

"He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it." (Rev 2:17)

White

White represents cleansing from sin. (Ps 51:2,7, Isa 1:18)

The cleansing is accomplished by the blood of Jesus (Jesus as Saviour). (1Jn 1:7,9, Rev 7:13,14)

The cleansing is complete. (Ps 103:12, Isa 38:17, Eze 18:21,22, Mic 7:19, Ac 10:15, Ro 8:1)

In the end, even the memory of sins will disappear. (Isa 43:18,19,25, Isa 65:17, Heb 8:12)

Stone

Jesus is the Stone. (1Sa 17:49, Da 2:44,45, Mt 7:24,25, Mt 21:42,44, Ac 4:10-12, 1Co 10:4, Eph 2:19,20)

Name

Name represents character. (Ex 23:20,21, Ex 34:5-7, Nu 6:24-27, Isa 56:5, Jn 17:6,26, Rev 14:1, Rev 14:11, Rev 17:5)

It is God's character that is being given. (Rev 3:12, Rev 22:3,4)

Written in the Stone

God's character is perfectly manifested in Jesus. (Jn 14:9, Col 2:8,9, Heb 1:1-3)

Given to God's True Church

Jesus and His character lives within genuine Christians. (Jn 17:23, Gal 4:19, Eph 3:16-19, Col 1:27, Col 3:11, Rev 3:20)

God's law is a testimony of His character. (Ex 25:21,22, Ro 13:8-10 compare 1Jn 4:8)

God's law is written in the heart of His true church. (Heb 8:10, Rev 12:17, Rev 14:12)

Known Only by the Receivers

The knowledge of God's character comes only through Jesus. (Rev 19:11,12)

Knowing Jesus is the most important matter. (Jer 9:23,24, Jn 17:3, Heb 8:11)

Knowing Jesus involves more than a surface, factual knowledge. (Mt 7:21-23, Mt 25:11,12, Lk 13:24-27, Jn 8:19, Jas 2:19)

Knowing Jesus results in obedience to God's law. (1Jn 2:3-6, 1Jn 3:4-6)

New

A "new" implies an "old" that is being replaced.

Knowing Jesus is a transformation process (Jesus as Lord). (2Co 5:17)

Our sinful rags are replaced by Christ's righteousness. (Zec 3:1-4,8,9 compare Rev 5:6 and Rev 3:18)

Given Only to those who Overcome

Jesus overcame the world. (Jn 16:33, Heb 4:15, Rev 3:21)

Through Christ, all genuine believers will overcome the world. (1Jn 5:4,5)

The promises to His church are to those who overcome. (Rev 2:7,11,26, Rev 3:5,12,21, Rev 21:7)

Overcomers actively seek the purity of Christ. (1Jn 3:3, Rev 19:7,8)

Behold Him and be Transformed

Behold Him and be transformed. (Da 7:9, Mt 17:1,2, Mk 9:2,3, Rev 1:13,14, 2Co 3:18)
